This musical involves 50 dance talents from China and Malaysia and combines a wonderful choreography, heartwarming songs and a marvelous script. Bringing 20 skillful dancers from the Beijing Dance Academy to perform in the production, this musical also features one of China's top choreographer, Professor Yu Xiao Xue as the director. He would be working closely with a renowned music composer and song writer from Malaysia, Mr. Chow Kam Leong. Mr. Chow would be the musical's Music Director, leading a few Malaysian artistes such as Regine Tai, Shu Tzu Ying, Wong Say How and many other more. These talented artistes would be performing 38 of Chow’s beautifully composed songs. Magic Mirror the Musical is truly an art collaboration between Malaysia and China.
To propagate the spirit of compassion and selflessness, Yayasan Guan Yin had proud to present “Magic Mirror—The Musical”, a performing art spectacular combining artistes and talents both from Malaysia and China from 27 Nov tilll 14 Dec in Genting International showroom last year.
It is the fervent hope of Datin Tan Swee Lai, the Secretary General of Yayasan Guan Yin that the staging of this event, the objective of taking the show to a global level is to provide the viewers to feel the message of love, peace, harmony and human kindness. The performance will depict how Avolokitesvara Bodhisattva helps sentient beings to emerge from darkness, guiding them to the right path and constantly spreading the message of loving kindness.
To bring this musical to life, Yayasan Guan Yin specially invited China's famed stage designer/engineer Mr. Ren Dong Sheng to design a six foot tall, three faced Bodhisattva; placing it on stage and radiating light from it. It would be the center of attention and the Bodhisattva would proceed to touch the hearts of the viewers, giving the message of compassion that answers to the calls of suffering of all sentient beings. The producer of the musical, Datin Tan Swee Lai, hopes to bring a sense of calmness to soothe the sufferings and violence of today's times.
